Story Info & Recommendations
I’m often asked for book recommendations—especially after a story that sparks curiosity or wonder.
So, I’ve put together a little collection! Here you’ll find more background on some of the stories I tell, plus a few of my favorite books to read (and re-read) for children, families, and fellow lovers of folklore.
Some of these are great for diving deeper into the tales, and others are simply books I adore. Whether you’re looking to revisit a favorite tale or explore something new, I hope you find something magical here. ✨

My Favorite story to tell is:
Strega Nona

My Favorite Book of All Time:
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
I’ve re-read it as an adult and still love it. AVI does such a great job of using the real sailing terms in a way that draws you into the action. This book is the reason I ran off on tall ships and sailed around the world. But that’s a story for another time.
My Most Recent Children’s Book:

Gold Rush Girl
I re-read this recently along with one of my neices who was coming out to visit me in San Francisco for the first time. We went exploring the city and located many of the landmarks included in the book. Its a great telling of San Francisco’s history, through the eyes of a child.
Do you have a favorite book or book recommendation? Is there a story you’ve heard that you think I should tell?
